The best Majorcan evenings have been enjoyed on its terraces. A charming family hotel located in a privileged setting at the foot of the peaceful Canyamel Beach is closing its doors after more than a decade of memories and unforgettable moments.
Cap Vermell Beach Hotel has been a cosy place to get lost and return... because of its location, its impeccable service and all the experiences it has witnessed.
An era is now coming to an end, leaving behind thousands of never-to-be-forgotten times. Cap Vermell Group began operating it in April 2007.
At the time it was known as Hostal Cuevas and was one of the first establishments on the island dedicated to accommodating visitors.
Its history is very much linked to the area where it is located, Canyamel, and the past and memory of a family of entrepreneurs - the family of Miguel Garau, the first talaier (sentry) of the Torre d'en Massot watchtower (1577).
Up until the mid-20th century, his descendants would one after another take over as talaier and even became the first guides of the Caves of Artà. In 1906, one of them decided to move from Artà to Canyamel and begin a food service aimed at cave visitors located in a hut in Es Pins de ses Vegues. In 1934, the project evolved into a small food venue, Restaurante Cuevas, specializing in paella and fried fish. The restaurant grew to become a hostel in 1951.
The walls are the very same ones that have since housed guests at Cap Vermell Beach Hotel, an establishment that has been renovated over the years without losing any of its immense history.
The name of its restaurant, Vintage 1934, pays homage to the year the first venue was founded with a culinary vocation. Many thanks to everyone who has been a part of this project for this journey and wonderful experience.Cap Vermell
